This year’s list of Laurels and Pelicans has been announced for the Laurels vs. Pelicans boffer melees. The fundraiser will benefit the Pennsic war chest. Peers are given weapons based on how much money is donated in their name. They can take the field at Panteria with something as small as a dagger or as fantastical as a giant scorpion. To support your favorite peer, go to www. laurelsvspelicans.com. Any peer who hasn’t signed up and wants to should send an email to the organizers.
Available weapons and their cost are:
Dagger – $25
Sword – $50
Sword and Shield – $75
Specialty Weapon – $100

The following is the report of Lady Sabina Luttrell, East Kingdom Minister of Lists, on the Spring Crown Tournament held in the Crown Province of Ostgardr on April 27th, 2013
The following warriors entered the lists on a gorgeous spring day to compete for the honor of becoming Prince of the East Kingdom and crowning their consort as Princess.
There were 4 round robin lists to start the day. The top 4 combatants (*starred*) were taken from each pool to compete in a double elimination tournament.
The populace of the East Kingdom gathered together in the Shire of Rusted Woodlands on the 4th of the month of May Anno Societatis 48, called in the Common Era, 2013, to witness the great feats of it’s own warriors as they competed for the honor of being the King’s or Queen’s Champion of Arms. As befits an event which is the first of a fresh new year, the air was filled with the fresh promise of Spring and the sights of many where fixed upon great new potential. The format for the day’s competition was explained, as the scent of fire and meat filled the air from the day board offerings. His Majesty gathered all around to speak of the meaning of that for which they fought this day. Drawing the sword of state from it’s sheath as it was held by his soon to be retired champion, Brennan mac Fearghus, he read the motto etched upon it, Justitia Virtutum Regina recited it’s translation, Justice is Queen of Virtues, and then discussed the deeper meaning and great honor behind the statement.

Duke Timothy of Arindale, won the Crown Tournament of Aethelmearc today, fighting for Duchess Gabrielle van Nijenrode. Their Hignesses last reigned in the East in A.S XXXII.
Throughout much of the East Kingdom the unofficial start of the camping season is Memorial Day weekend (this year it falls on May 24 – 27th) and the Kingdom Event Calendar boasts two excellent camping events for you to get out of your winter habitation and spend some time “on campaign” with your fellow medievalists. It’s time to unpack your best camping cot and soak up the late spring sunshine, get in the first big melee or woods battle of the season, shop ’til you drop, and get your garb and equipment a fresh infusion of wood smoke as you join in the revelry around the campfire.

On a day dawned clear and bright in the Crown Province of Østgarðr, Their Majesties Gregor and Kiena held a grand tournament to secure heirs to Their throne. On this date numbered the 27th of April in the year we mark Anno Societatis 47 called 2013 in the Common Era, the populous gathered to witness the battle between many of the finest fighters the East Kingdom had to offer. Antonio Patrasso, Seneschal of Settmour Swamp, has announced that the group’s event, Quest XXX, is being cancelled. The event was to be held on May 24-27.
