SCA Seneschal Seeking Deputy Seneschal for Market Research

The Society Seneschal’s office is seeking a Deputy Seneschal for Market Research to develop and implement a market research capability support the ongoing primary research needs that will prove fundamental to the continued improvement of decision-making for the Society for Creative Anachronism.

The Deputy Seneschal for Market Research will be tasked with integrating existing survey research tools and resources from the significant prior efforts of the 2010 Census Committee with any new staff and tools that may be necessary to support the research and analysis goals and needs to provide the actionable intelligence necessary to improve Society decision-making.

Birka attendees may have noticed the garb being worn by Their Majesties Thyra and Edward, which was made specifically for this event. The outfits were Viking, thematically taken from period sources for design and cut. The words spelled out by the Danish runes from 900 AD came from a different, more modern source. (more…)

Results from both Chivalric and Fencing Tournaments at the 2013 Market Day at Birka have been posted to the Northern Army website. Vivat to Kenrick of Warwick who placed first in the Chivalric bear pit, and to Quintin Brilliant who placed first in the Fencing Bear pit. Congratulations to everyone who competed!

Endewearde Goes Barony

At the Board of Directors meeting today, the petition by the Shire of Endewearde to become a barony was approved. The motion was made by Duke Martin Lochner. It was seconded by Duke John the Bearkiller. The vote was unanimous with the observation that this is a thriving group with all their documents in order.
