As many may have already heard, tragedy struck several of our own on New Year’s Day when a fire destroyed the home of Master Tearlach the Profane and his family. Everyone escaped the blaze safely, but the house, and everything in it, was lost.
If you do not know Master Tearlach personally, you have likely seen his helmets on the field. His skill with a hammer and anvil is renowned across the Known World, and many of the East’s best and brightest (as well as a whole lot of Northern Army Thugs) are proud to wear his handiwork.
As is typical in the SCA when disaster strikes, there are many who have stepped up to help and many more who have asked what they, too can do.
With only one event (East Kingdom 12th Night) on the calendar for this weekend, your choice is clear, but there are lots of exciting events taking place across the East Kingdom next weekend. Here’s your handy summary.

The Roman feast that will be served at the Queen’s Meadhall (King’s and Queen’s Bardic Champions) in Carolingia has been posted by the cook, Baroness Aurelia Rufinia. If you’re considering going, you can get a feast reservation until January 15th online or by postal mail.
“There may be changes to it, due to availability of ingredients, or my whimsical nature, but I do promise that the ingredient list will be available in the kitchen for anyone who wants it,” wrote Baroness Rufinia. “The numbers after each dish correspond to the recipe listed in Sally Grainger and Christopher Grocock’s Apicius, a Critical Edition with an Introduction and English Translation.”

Musicians’ Day in Ostgardr was cancelled earlier this year due to the site losing electricity and running water when a winter storm hit the week after Hurricane Sandy. The site and almost all the teachers originally scheduled for the event are available on January 26, so the event will be happening on that day! …
