Musicians and Dancers, pay heed.  A wonderful, fun, relaxing opportunity is fast approaching.  Teachers from far and near are on their way for a long weekend of dancing and music, color and pageantry.  See and learn about the amazing research and reconstruction of 300 years of dances.  Active classes, roundtables, playing and lecture, we expect to have it all. The following announcement was released by the Society for Creative Anachronism , Inc. to announce the available position of Society Minister of Arts & Sciences

The Society Minister of Arts and Sciences is responsible for fostering the study of period culture and technology, and methods for producing historically accurate artifacts and performances. His/her duties include coordinating the efforts of kingdom Arts and Sciences officers, and promoting the dissemination of accurate information about the fields under study. The Minister also assists the Chronicler of the Society and the editors of Society publications in confirming the validity of research presented to the membership. (more…)

Unofficial Court Report: Panteria

Panteria was intended to include the great competition for King’s and Queen’s Equestrian Champions, but weather, ever fickle, did not cooperate. With the good health and well-being of both the people and the horses who intended to participate firmly in Their minds, Their Majesties chose to postpone this challenge until Their Northern Region War Camp.

Royal Court did not mind so much the weather, held nestled indoors, and so that I can report to you.  I have been told that there was a presentation made by the people of Panther Vale, and that Harold von Auerbach swore his fealty there as well.  And as well there where awards made from Their Majesties unto some gentles present despite the weather’s state. Smoking Rocks Accuses Carolingia of Intimidation

The event announcement for the upcoming Cohasset Wars contains harsh words from Smoking Rocks to Carolingia.  Smoking Rocks claims that Carolingia historically raided Smoking Rocks to capture its goods and once again its “gimlet eyes figure that raiding and rapine upon the land can be used to disrupt commerce and trade and Pariahs may be leveled against the Good peaceful Baroness of the now Barony of Smoking Rocks and lands seized and threatened”.

The Baron and Baroness of Carolingia have taken exception to their being depicted as having “grasping hands and greedy heart” and trying to intimidate Smoking Rocks so it will “flinch and yield to Their might and demands”.  Baroness Imigla responded that the Barony has always respected all borders as part of respecting the laws of the East Kingdom, which they have sworn to uphold.  In addition, Carolingia has sought to assist their neighbors whenever possible. Northern Region Rattan Championship
