Pennsic Archery News
The Pennsic Flight Shoot happened early Friday morning. Chris Shulz posted the longest distance with a handbow, 205 yards. The crossbow winner, at 254 yards, was Kusunoki Yoshimoto (Yoshi) the Captain General of Archers of the East Kingdom.
Today was the first day of the Populace Archery War Points shooting. This War has the traditional three shoots — the Castle Clout Shoot, the Soldier Shoot, and the Castle Window Shoot — each worth one war point. Archers can do each of the three shoots five times during the War, as their schedules and energy permit; some archers do one or more shoots five times on the same day, others break it up over the five days of shooting. The ranges are open for practice most mornings before 11am. War point shooting runs 11am to 5pm on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; Friday is the last time war points can be shot, from 9am to 1pm, then the range will be packed up.
The Archery Champions Team Competition will take place on Wednesday, starting at 8am and running to mid-afternoon, so the ranges are closed to other shooting that day. The archers selected for the East’s team should be known by Tuesday evening.
