Society Clarifies Rules About SCA Gatherings at Private Homes
Good evening, everyone,
In the Town Hall on COVID-19 reopening last Friday evening, a question came up, asking if a home-owner can require vaccinations for anyone who attends a branch-sponsored practice at their home. In the moment, the Society Seneschal answered that no, homeowners could not require vaccinations in this way.
Upon further reflection and in conversation with Society President, the Society Seneschal has announced that home-owners CAN require that attendees of practices and other small gatherings in their home/yard be vaccinated.
Crucially — enforcement of this is ENTIRELY on the home-owner. The home-owner is responsible for deciding what proof they will accept, checking for that proof, and any other enforcement issues. In addition, it must be clear that this is the home-owners’ rule for using their property, NOT a requirement by the branch, Kingdom, or Society.
In addition, masks are still required. The Board had not created any different conditions for those who are vaccinated vs those who are not.
In service,
