5pm: Diaries, Speeches & Letters: Non-Traditional Monologue Material for the Discerning Actor
Sayyida Laila al-Sanna’ al-Andalusiyya’ 60mins
The trial records of Joan of Arc; Queen Elizabeth I’s speech on the eve of the Spanish Armada; and the letters of famed Venetian courtesan Veronica Franco… each of these is imbued with dramatic potential rarely realized. For an actor, in or out of the SCA, these sources are rich with possibilities. This class will address what makes a good monologue, and how you can adapt non-traditional source material into vibrant and dynamic performances.
