Tuesday, April 21: The History of Goldwork Embroidery. 7pm-9pm EDT. Instructor: THL Amalie von Hohensee (Emily Adams.) This class will take an in-depth look at the historical development of goldwork embroidery, from some of the earliest extant finds through the Tudor era. We will take a look at how threads were manufactured in period, and how changes in this technology affected the types of embroidery produced. We will then compare modern threads to their historical counterparts, and discuss strategies for recreating historical goldwork embroideries with modern materials. Wednesday, April 22: How to fit yourself without a partner. Start time 7:00pm EDT. Instructor Etheldreda Ivelchylde Learn how to fit yourself without the help of another person.
