Update on Scroll Carriers
Greetings to the Populace!
This past weekend at Southern Region War Camp, I had several scroll carriers returned, as well as receiving some new ones.
Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU!
I should be good for 2-3 events with what I received. I was also able to hand a couple back to active scribes so they can send scrolls safely to court.
Several people have asked about making scroll carriers and I wanted to provide some guidance.
Size: At minimum, please make scroll carriers that are 13 x 16 inches. That gives an extra inch on all sides of an 11 x 14 scroll, and smaller ones fit in there even better.
Fabric: Quilter’s cotton works just fine and can often be found super cheap. Try to avoid anything that has metallic threads and absolutely no fabric that has sequins or glitter. If you want to make scroll carriers but don’t have fabric, please let me know. I have plenty I can share.
Closures: Whenever possible, try to add some way to close the scroll carrier. Narrow ribbon sewn into the fabric works great.
Instructions: Good instructions can be found on the Signet’s website: https://signet.eastkingdom.org/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/How-to-make-a-scroll-case1.pdf
As always, please continue to return scroll carriers whenever you are able. They can be dropped off at the Royal Room/Pavilion at any Royal Progress event, or handed to a local scribe.
