Reminder: Board’s Oct 25th COVIDSafe policy update went into effect Nov 15th

November 16, 2021 by Aoife inghean Donnchaidh

Good morning, East Kingdom populace,

A reminder that the Board’s October 25th COVIDSafe policy amendment went into effect yesterday.

Here’s the link to the Board’s amendment to the policy (https://www.sca.org/news/board-resolution-amendment-to-covidsafe-policy/).

Please note: the Kingdom mask policy remains in effect; the Crown (and now the Heirs) and I review this policy regularly. All activities are required to post the Board’s health acknowledgment sign in their event listings as well as publicly at the event itself.

If you are running a meeting, a practice, or an event, please see the Kingdom Seneschal’s webpage, Gate in a Box, COVID edition (https://seneschal.eastkingdom.org/gate-in-a-box-covid-edition/) for the Board-required health acknowledgement sign, the attestation sheet (I have checked attendees’ vaccination/negative COVID test), and various other items including the terrific Sparky-wears-a-mask sign.

I’ve discussed with branch seneschals ways to make this smoother for medium-to-large events where a lot of attendees are expected to arrive on site in a relatively short timespan. Please make sure you are in touch with your branch seneschal and understand the policy requirements and implementation suggestions.

If you have direct experience with trouble spots implementing the policy as written, please write it up and send it to me so I can pass it along to the Society Seneschal. Actual data, not hypothetical what-ifs, will help guide the Board as it continues to revisit this policy.

As always, please email questions to me (seneschal AT eastkingdom DOT org) and be patient, prepared, and gracious with COVIDSafe checkers and gate staff. They are doing their best to implement policy so we can get back to a normal-ish version of the activities we love. I am pleased to say that staff have been treated kindly in these first several weeks of the policy — that is as it should be, and I appreciate the populace’s cooperation with this new aspect of our gatherings.

In service,
Medhbh
