A&S Activities for the Week
Hello East Kingdom! Here is this week’s list of online A&S activities for everyone to enjoy:
Wednesday, August 19: Hand Sewing 101. 7:00 pm EDT. Instructor: Baronin Maria von Ossenheim. Want to up your SCA garb game? This class will cover a few basic stitches, along with some tips and tricks that the instructor has picked up along the way. See examples of her work, learn about the basic tools and supplies, then watch and ask questions as she demonstrates how to use the tools and create the basic stitches along with some helpful variations. Want to sew along? The beginning items you’ll need are cloth, thread, a needle, and scissors. Meeting link: https://meet.google.com/czz-jzqj-ztd
Thursday, August 20: So You Want to Be a Head Cook. 7:00 pm EDT. Instructor: Katya Gordon. This class deals with the practical planning and running of a kitchen for an event. It discusses menu planning (briefly), portioning, shopping, equipment planning, staffing, scheduling and stretching your budget until it squeaks. Meeting link: https://meet.google.com/ywz-sszz-gew
Saturday, August 22: EK Brewing Guild presents BrewU Next. 12:00 – 6:00 pm EDT. The East Kingdom Brewers Guild is proud to present BrewU Next, an online intermediate brewing schola! This event will feature a variety of Intermediate level brewing classes plus an EKBG paneling. More information is coming soon. We hope to see you there! Sunday, August 23: EK College of Performers presents “A Day at the Opera: Music of the Renaissance Stage: Early Opera, Oratorio & Theatrical Music.” 10:00 am EDT. All are invited for a day of classes and workshops centered around oratorio, early opera, and theatrical music of the Renaissance stage. Featuring a performance from Opera dell’Est, the East Kingdom College of Performer’s premier opera company. Open performance time will be available after the event.
