Drafting the Kingdom Re-opening Plan

We hope that you are well and are finding opportunities for joy and connection, even as we remain apart.

We know that many are eager to resume in-person activities, and that Our rattan and rapier fighters particularly miss the training that only a live opponent can provide. We thank you for your patience and commitment to community safety during these past months.

As various states in the U.S. begin to ease their stay at home requirements, We have begun drafting guidelines under which the East Kingdom can resume in-person activities. We are seeking advice at the Society level, from other Kingdoms, and most importantly from the CDC and public health officials of states within the Kingdom. The re-opening guidance will be ready by the end of June.

The health and safety of the populace remains Our priority. We understand that different states and regions will likely have different restrictions, and We ask you to follow the guidelines local to you as they update. Please do not plan to travel to find an open practice, attend an interesting class, or otherwise extend beyond your usual community (geographic and/or SCA-activity). No one wants to be responsible for a new outbreak hot-spot.

Some may not wish to resume any in-person activity, no matter how few people attend or how well the site is cleaned, for quite some time. We understand and respect that choice. We look forward to seeing you when you are comfortable returning to events.
