Google Hangouts Meet available for SCA use through the Webministry
With the current concerns over Covid-19 and the fact that large gatherings of people are generally being discouraged, I wanted to make sure that everyone was aware of the resources available to the Populace.
The EK Webministry uses the Google for Non-Profits platform which allows for any member with an EK email address to use Google Hangouts Meet, which is a very versatile conference software. It allows for voice and video chat, screen sharing, and also provides a conference number for attendees to dial into if the situation warrants.
Our normal licensing doesn’t allow these sessions to be recorded, but Google has very kindly added this ability through (currently) July 1st in order to make things a little easier during the current turmoil.
It’s very easy to use, and we have documentation that outlines the use of the software on our Webministry website at https://webminister.eastkingdom.org/email/video-meetings/
I want to take this opportunity to also say that anyone who has any questions on any of this should reach out to myself or any member of my staff – local, regional, kingdom – and we will be happy to provide what assistance we can. I’m home most evenings and would even be happy to do some testing with some folks. Some of us have day jobs or other important work, but we’ll make sure that your questions get addressed.
We’re all in this together. We do the work we do because it helps all of us together in this game, and we want to make sure you have the tools you need.
Hang in there, everyone. I’m optimistic we’ll get through this quickly and see each other soon, but it’s nice to know that we have some resources to rely on in the meantime.
Yours in Service,
Herr Matthias von Würzburg
