Greetings from the Webministry of the Kingdom of the East!
It came up in conversation recently that for those people who are members of multiple orders and thus multiple order lists, having all of the discussion lists named “discuss-” is honestly a pain. If you go to write a message to one of the lists, autocomplete might misdirect it to who knows which list, causing anxiety around hitting “Send” and potential embarrassment if a message really does go the wrong way.
So we have changed them all to -firstname.lastname@example.org.
Now the worst autocomplete could do is try to direct you to @lists.eastkingdom.org, which will be configured 1) to reject that unless you happen to be one of the very few people who are supposed to send out polls, 2) reject you with a “You’re not allowed to post here, were you looking for -discuss?” message.
Everything should work just the same as it used to, except for the list moderators. Any list moderator who has bookmarked the old URLs will need to pay attention to the next moderator email they receive which will have the new URLs in it, or can reach out to email@example.com for assistance.
