Greetings unto the archers of the East Kingdom does Master Godric of Hamtun, the outgoing Captain General of Archers send.

By the time you read this in Pikestaff I will have stepped down as Captain General of Archers. It has been my honor and privilege to serve the great Kingdom of the East and her archery community.

But before I step away I would like to announce a revision to the Policies of the Captain General. This revision was enacted on June 13th 2018. The changes in the rules were mainly clarifications and omitting lines that did not make sense. With a document this size constant revisiting is needed to make sure all of the policies remain viable and are there to keep archery safe and fun for everyone. You will find the revision on the archery web site, which can be accessed from the Kingdom web page under the officers tab.

As I step down, I would like to introduce you to Baron Colin Ursell, who will be your Captain General of Archery. I am sure you all will welcome him and I know that he will be do a great job as Captain General. Please give him your support as he transitions into this position.

Although I am stepping down I am not stepping away and I hope to see many of you on the ranges of the East Kingdom.

Outgoing Captain General of Archers

Greetings Unto the Archers of the East Kingdom from your new Captain General, Baron Colin Ursell!

I would first like to thank Master Godric of Hamtun for his unceasing commitment and years of work and dedication to Eastern Archery.   For Master Godric, Vivat!!!!  As he mentioned, while he has stepped down as Captain General he will still be an involved and active part of the Eastern archery and I look forward to his continued advice and assistance.  I would also like to offer a special thank you for his revisions and updates to the policies of Eastern Kingdom Archery, keeping our rules current and concise.

I would also like to thank all of the individuals who have served in the role of Captain General for creating and fostering the Eastern  archery community and  presenting me with the greatest cadre of archers in the Known World to command!!!

As the 50th anniversary of our great Kingdom approaches and Pennsic bears down upon us I am hoping to see each and every one of you out on the range shooting, marshaling, teaching, encouraging and most importantly having FUN!   I intend to continue to foster the spirit of inclusiveness that has characterized archery in the SCA where women and men, children and adults, beginners and experts can all participate together, enjoying the same shoots and the same challenges.

Over the remainder of the summer months, I will be attending the East Kingdom 50 Year Celebration, Great North Eastern War and of course, Pennsic.  I look forward to meeting any and all who will be traveling to those events, especially folks from the more far-flung regions of the Kingdom I might not get to see as often.  Please come find me, introduce yourselves, have a chat, let me know what you like and what you don’t like about Eastern Archery!

Baron Colin Ursell
