Crown Tournament Details

Unto all who would contest for the Tyger Throne do Basilissa Caoilfhionn and Basileus Brennan, Autokratera kai Autokrator Tis Anatolis send greetings,

We are eagerly anticipating the day when the East will find its new Heirs and Tir Mara their new Prince and Princess. We expect a day of prowess and pageantry, testing the mettle of those who would bear the weight of the Crown. To that end, we believe we have a fitting crucible.

The tournament will be fought in a double elimination format. Each round will be fought best 2 of 3 passes. The first round will feature a challenge-in where combatants from the bottom half of the day’s list, as sorted by precedence, will have the opportunity to challenge a combatant from the top half. From the 2nd round on, a traditional tree structure will be used to choose pairings. All double kills will be refought.

All combatants will be invited to use their preferred weapons form until the semi-finals. Those preferred forms need not match. Combatants should be prepared with gauntlets should they reach the semi-finals.

Semi-final pairings will feature one combatant from the winner’s list against one from the loser’s list, and each round shall continue to be the best 2 of 3 passes. The combatant from the winner’s list will need to win 1 round to advance. The combatant from the loser’s list will need to win 2 rounds to advance. The semi-finals will be fought with matched weapons forms. The combatant from the winner’s list will select the form for the first round. Should a second round be necessary, the weapons form for those 3 passes will be selected by the combatant from the loser’s list.

For the finals, all prior losses will be forgiven. The finals will be a best of 5 passes with rotating weapons forms of alternating choice. Matched sets of glaives and longswords will be provided should those forms be selected.
