Tribute to Lord Joshua of Allendorf of Stonemarche
The following tribute was written by Baron Harald von Auerbach.
It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that Josh Friedman, known in SCA as Lord Joshua of Allendorf passed away last night (11/29/15) at Brigham and Women’s hospital. He was comfortable and at peace surrounded by his wife Amy, his daughters Lauren and Jordan, brother and sister-in-law Seth and Sue, and mother-in-law Nancy Winograd.
In the early days of the Stonemarche, Josh was our premier archer, and his passion drew in others to create the original archery community that made us know as “the archery barony”. In 1991, he became the first Companion of the Sagittarius in Stonemarche.
Josh was also an excellent musician and played recorder with Sir Robin’s Minstrels to at the Birka Ball and other events. He also had a love of the music of GIlbert and Sullivan. Though he hasn’t been able to be active in Stonemarche activities for a while, I know there will be many who will miss his smiling face and quirky sense of humor.
Josh’s funeral will be held at 1pm, Tuesday, December 1st at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin St. Salem, Massachusetts, 01970.
The Friedmans will be receiving visitors at their home at 19 Topaz Dr. in Nashua, NH 03062 on Wednesday and Thursday from 6pm-9pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 12pm-5pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at www.dana-farber.org.
