Covering the Eastern Realm of the SCA

For the discerning ear…

October 10, 2012 by East Kingdom Gazette

Information provided by Lucien de Pontivy

This weekend’s coronation ceremony will be interwoven with beautiful,
moving music led and performed by luminaries from across the East
Kingdom. The musicians and singers, coordinated by Mistress Aife ingen
Chonchobair in Derthaige, will perform SCA-period extant works from
England and Denmark, including:

Pange Melos Lacrimosum
Gaudete Heres Optatus
Firmetur Manus Tua
Dromete Mig En Drom
Te Regem Laudamus
Album Regum Orientalis

Members of the ensemble adapted the lyrics for Gaudete, Firmetur, and
Te Regem for use in an SCA coronation ceremony.

The ceremony itself will be Baron Steffan ap Kenydd’s adaptation of
the Liber Regalis, a version of the so-called “Fourth Recension of the
English Ordo”. This is the basis for all English ordines since then,
up to the one used for Elizabeth II.
