Curia was held in January at the Market Day at Birka, and the following changes were made to East Kingdom Law and Policy.
The new King’s and Queen’s Champions of Arts and Sciences were selected last weekend at the event held in the Barony of Concordia of the Snows. Photos of the entries of the new champions are below.
The new King’s Champion is Master Luke Knowlton, who entered a leather Roman military belt with cast bronze plates and a suite of Roman writing implements. The new Queen’s Champion is Baroness Rainillt de Bello Marisco. She entered a 16th century German/Italian man’s pleated shirt decorated with pattern darning, a 16th century Flemish style smocked apron and a 14th century man’s embroidered hood.

Greetings to the artists, scientists, and sundry populace of the East Kingdom,
Society is in the process of rolling out a new Youth And Family Achievement program designed to expose youths between the ages of 5-17 to many of the varied activities that we do in the SCA. The program is a cross between a modern scouting badge program and a medieval apprenticeship. Families choose a topic, are given a list of mentors who teach that topic, then the child meets with the mentor at official SCA practices and events to complete the tasks laid out in the program. Archery, Arms & Armour, Equestrian, Family Life, Music, Pottery, Woodworking
This Competition is open to any and all who would enter, a separate table will be set for a Youth Competition. There will be a Competition Winner as well as a Populace Winner. The site opens at 10:00 am, judging will begin at 1:00.
The Rules
1 – All entries must have been created within the past 2 years.
2 – All culinary entries must include a full ingredient lists. Modern sanitary considerations must be taken in their preparation. Entrants are responsible for keeping cold food cold and hot food hot.
3 – Research Papers need to be sent in before Mudthaw for proper review. Please also have a print out for presentation amongst the other entrants. Send Research/Paper entries to Caterina Giaocchini at onesleeve@yahoo.com by March1, 2014 to ensure enough time for review.

On Friday, March 21st, Master Galefridus Peregrinus will be heading up the setup for the event. If you are able to assist, please contact him – galefridus@optimum.net
On Saturday, March 22, we need volunteers for to assist with various activities throughout the day. Master Alexander MacGregor (ddevito17@gmail.com) will be heading up the organization for inside activities, including the change over of the upstairs hall from day time activities to court and then having the chairs put away, the change over of the lower hall from day time activities to feast, and other needs to keep the hall in order.
