A Message from the King
His Majesty King Edward has asked the Gazette to share the following with the populace:
Unto my cherished Kingdom of the East,
I owe you an explanation and an apology.
While I am so proud of the way the day progressed through the adversity of the weather, my determination and preparations to ensure a clean and decisive crown finals proved insufficient for the challenges of the day.
The conduct of my Crown Tournament is my responsibility. In this, I failed you, and ask your forgiveness.
The fact remains, that I am your king and have sworn myself to you, and must ask and require your assistance in making the kingdom whole on behalf of my Queen and every good gentle in the East.
-Edward Rex
My most humble and loyal King Edward, thank you so much for these words. I am grateful to have an honorable King who cares so much for his people. I admit this has been weighing heavy on my heart and a weight has been lifted upon receiving your acknowledgment in such a courageously public forum. I hope that you will receive the advice you have requested from your most trusted advisors and peers. Thank you, my King.

If I can help in any way…. all you must do is ask. I will do my best to complete your task.
Excuse me, your Majesty, may I request permission, your Majesty to speak? If I may say, your Majesty, your courageous and honorable words do us as a Kingdom and as a Society proud.
I will, as always, help in any way that I can. Please feel free to contact me via my facebook personnae of Niki Kate.
If anyone can make this right, I have faith in you.
While this was an eloquent apology, it was not an explanation. As someone who was not at Crown Tourney and who has no access to the East Kingdom “grape vine” this vague post left me bewildered. I had to ask a friend in the society what exactly was happening here, and even he had only the slightest of information about what transpired. Until now I liked to promote the EK Gazette to potential or new members because it showcased so much of the ‘good’ and ‘fun’ that we do here. A post like this, and the earlier post mentioning the stripping of awards from a member (but with no further explanation) make it seem like we are a hot, drama-filled, non-transparent mess.
Honorable and courageous as your apology is, and I honor it, I am with Doccia Vacha, I was not at Crown, and my Facebook feed and now this apology has made me more curious, what happened that so many are posting about honor, calibration (what ever that means) chivalrous behavior, etcetera? A blow by blow report is not needed but something that might help those of us in the dark gain some enlightenment, as random posts are just confusing and disheartening.
Yours, Sarra
