Results of the Crown Tournament Variance Survey Post-Reign
The following is a summary of the results of a survey run by the East Kingdom in May. The survey asked for feedback after the conclusion of the first reign of monarchs chosen by rapier, which concluded in April. The survey is similar to the one run by the East Kingdom as part of the request for a variance to use rapier in a crown tournament.
- The survey was open to everyone regardless of kingdom.
- Data was collected about where the respondent lived, years active in the SCA, highest award achieved, and whether they were a member of any peerage orders (and if so which ones).
- Text boxes were included for written feedback. The comments will be anonymized and provided to the Board and Society Seneschal as part of the full data set.
Given the high level of interest in alternative formats for crown tournaments, this summary report is being released publicly as well as sent to the Board. Thanks to everyone who responded to the survey and provided the feedback to help with further conversations on the topic.
