New A&S Champions and Event Display
On the fourth day of March, the artisans of the East Kingdom braved the snows of Tir Mara to display their works at the Crown’s Arts and Sciences Championship event in the Barony of L’ile du Dragon Dormant. The inclement weather did not dampen the enthusiasm of the artisans or the spirits of the populace, and the talents of the East were magnificently represented in the many and varied displays.
The first phase of this year’s competition was held online; you may view the entries here (https://moas.eastkingdom.org/crowns-arts-sciences-competition-and-display-2023/). A round of online judging resulted in the selection of four finalists. For this second phase, their Majesties viewed the exhibits in person, and chose their new champions from among the finalists, in consultation with their Highnesses and the outgoing champion.
The entrants and members of the populace who displayed their work at the event were: Isabel del Oakes, Nathan Hartman, Cellach Dhonn inghean Mhic an Mhadaidh, Ciaran ua Meic Thire, Perronnelle de Croy, Marguerite de Gui, Khayra Bint Sa’id, Embla Knutrdittir, Aciterix Caldius Julius Cittinus (known as Kit), Sile Dubh inghean Mhic an Mhadaidh. Some artisans were unable to display their works, mostly due to the snowstorm; they were Culann mac Cianain, Rose Erembourc, Eleanor Grey, Audrye Beneyt, John Radburne, Lydia Katerin of Brus, Scolastica Capellaria, and Robin dit Dessaint.
The four finalists were: Isabel del Oakes, Nathan Hartman, Cellach Dhonn inghean Mhic an Mhadaidh, and Culann mac Cianain.
