East Kingdom Crown Tournament Plans Announced
*Translation into French forthcoming*
Please expect to see this announcement repeated again in French shortly.
Populace of the East,
Having heard the thoughts of the Kingdom, We have decided on a timeline to move forward with holding a Crown Tournament to find Heirs.
With a variance from the Board, We have chosen a path forward that prioritizes safety while also allowing for the greatest involvement by subjects of the East wishing to participate as combatant or consort. However, as conditions may shift in the future, We may need to alter the plan to comply with safety regulations or governmental guidance.
The timeline We are setting is:
Feeder Tournament bids by May 1 (eventclerk@eastkingdom.org)
The tournament will start with feeder tournaments to allow for smaller gatherings and less travel. We are seeking bids for feeder tournaments by May 1. The bidding process is open to all regions, and multiple bids are being sought from all regions as multiple feeder tournaments may be needed depending on participation levels. All bids must comply with current kingdom event standards for safety, available on the Kingdom Seneschal’s webpage (https://seneschal.eastkingdom.org) and should have explicit attendance restrictions noted and a plan for making a live stream of the fighting available. Dates for feeder tournaments would run from June 12 – July 10.
Letters of intent due May 12

Crown Tournament bid by June 12 (eventclerk@eastkingdom.org)
Bids for final tournament due June 12. Bids open to all regions. If possible, Our preference is to hold Crown Tournament in the next region in the rotation laid out in Kingdom law, the Southern Region; however, due to current travel and gathering size restrictions, bids from all regions are encouraged and will be considered. All bids must comply with current kingdom event standards for safety and should have explicit attendance restrictions noted and a plan for making a live stream of the fighting available. Ideally, the bid would be capable of supporting a larger attendance of spectators if safety regulations permit. Preferred date for the Crown Tournament is July 17.
If there are areas that have travel restrictions on July 10 that would prevent fighters from traveling to the final Crown Tournament, the spots in the final tournament from those feeder tournaments will be reassigned to couples who have participated in the feeder tournaments. If an advancing couple has to withdraw before the day of the final tournaments, their spot will be reassigned to a couple who has participated in one of the feeder tournaments. These decisions will be made by the Crown and the Earl Marshal.
