Demystifying Ethereal Court

Greetings!

Rolling into the new Reign of the Eastern Consules, feels like a great opportunity for us to lift the curtain a little to help the populace understand the planning process for the next few months. So let’s talk about the awards process and Court!

When Their Majesties decide to give an award, the Awards Scheduler, Duchess Etain, contacts the recommender or point-of-contact for the recipient and schedules it for an upcoming Court as usual. Their Majesties are currently having Court once a month.

We are holding a recording session every Thursday evening. These sessions will be based around the various Orders, with periodic additions of other items. Generally speaking, a session will focus on Service, A&S, Martial, or Miscellaneous. There will be a few months when we adjust this process to accommodate holidays, etc. If you are a member of an order, stay tuned! I will be releasing a schedule of meetings Soon™.

When an award is scheduled for Court, we also send an invitation to the recommender for a Zoom meeting in the month prior to the court. Generally we leave it to the recommender (or family member, if provided) to get the recipient to the Zoom meeting. The award presentation in the Zoom meeting is recorded, edited, and displayed during Ethereal Court.

So how do scrolls play into this process? The Heraldic Staff is working with the Signet to continue to make scrolls a meaningful part of the award presentation. When a scroll is assigned for a Court, we are asking for the wording a month in advance of that Court so it can be read during the award presentation on Zoom. The scribe will then continue working on the visual art, and send a photo of the scroll a week ahead of the Court. Photos of the scroll are then included in the video for Ethereal Court. This system allows the populace to get an up-close view of the amazing work of our East Kingdom scribes. Once completed, the scrolls will be shipped to me, Vox Regis, where they will be signed and shipped out to the recipient along with any order medallions as necessary.

Their Majesties will then hold Court, which is a mix of live interactions and these pre-recorded videos.

How can you, as award recommenders help?

Please be thorough in your award recommendation! If there are family members who should be notified to get the recipients to Zoom, let us know. We can reach out to them directly. Watch your email! When Duchess Etain contacts you for scheduling, please respond quickly so we can get all the pieces put together quickly.
