Functional change to EK Wiki, Feb 16
Dear East Kingdom,
On the evening of February 16th, your EK Webministry will be making a functional change to the East Kingdom Wiki. As of this change, page revision histories and the index of recently changed pages will only be available to logged in accounts.
As you may know, the growth in AI platforms has led to an increase in automated systems (bots) scouring the internet and ingesting content for the training and development of these platforms. Our websites are no exception. Page histories and recent change lists are infrequently used by people, but are extensively used by these sorts of systems that indiscriminately seek to gather in any materials they can find. Making this change will have little effect on people, but will stop some of the abuses seen by bot behaviors.
We do not anticipate there being any downtime while we make this change, and you will not see any differences unless you attempt to view a page revision history or a list of recently changed pages, in which case you may need to log in first. We know that the wiki is a valuable resource to the populace, even for those who may not have accounts. We hope that this change proves minimally impactful to that value. If you do not have an account and would like to open one, please follow the ‘request an account’ link posted on the front page of the wiki.
In service,
East Kingdom Webministry
