The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Officer of Inclusive Programs. Position Title: Officer of Inclusive Programs
Location: Remote / Across All SCA Kingdoms
Time Commitment: Approx. 20–25 hours/week (flexible)
Reports To: President of the SCA, and SCA, Inc. Board of Directors
Position Overview:
The Officer of Inclusive Programs serves as a strategic leader within the SCA’s Corporate Office, tasked with shaping and guiding diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives across the organization. this role plays a crucial part in developing inclusive policy, creating impactful training programs, and fostering a culture of belonging for all members and volunteers.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone passionate about advancing equity and accessibility within nonprofit or community-centered organizations. You’ll work closely with the Board, Officers, and grassroots communities to promote systemic change and drive engagement across a wide spectrum of members.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Policy Support
- Advise the Board of Directors and other Corporate Officers on Inclusive strategy, trends, and concerns
- Develop, implement, and maintain a Society-wide inclusion strategy, including vision, mission, and action planning.
- Suggest, draft, and review policies to enhance inclusivity and equity within SCA systems.
- Consult with affiliates to develop global approach to SCA inclusivity
Learning & Development Program Creation
- Develop, curate, and implement training programs for Society and Kingdom officers focused on inclusion, accessibility, bias awareness, and cultural sensitivity
- Promote and manage Board-approved officer training programs on inclusive topics.
- Develop and maintain Learning Management System
- Establish evaluation and feedback mechanisms to assess training effectiveness
- Collaborate with the Society DEIB Officer and Board to ensure materials reflect current best practices and policies
Corporate Collaboration & Support
- Serve as a resource to Society Officers, Kingdom Seneschals, and other key leadership on inclusive programming
- Partner with other corporate offices to integrate inclusive practices to promote growth in the SCA
- Support and supervise the Society DEIB Officer and provide guidance on program direction.
Program Management & Strategic Input
- Maintain and update a centralized library of inclusive training materials and DEIB-aligned officer resources
- Recommend updates or enhancements to corporate policies and procedures through the lens of inclusivity
- Help ensure that corporate documentation, policies, and messaging reflect inclusive values
- Set training content creation timelines and ensure timely delivery.
Metrics & Community Engagement
- Track and report on program implementation, challenges, and successes to the President and Board of Directors
- Track and report on key membership and engagement metrics related to diversity and inclusion.
- Conduct research and identify external best practices for strengthening community diversity.
- Foster engagement and outreach efforts within various demographic groups.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in adult learning, instructional design, or volunteer/officer training programs
- Strong background in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, ideally in nonprofit or educational settings
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate across departments and manage long-term projects in a volunteer-based organization
- Experience developing and implementing inclusive policies or programs.
- Access to dependable internet, email, and phone service.
- Familiarity with SCA structures, customs, and culture strongly preferred
- Experience with Learning Management Systems
