East Kingdom Arts & Sciences Championships Announced
With permission from the Consuls, the MOAS office is excited to announce details for our next Crown’s A&S Championships!
Due to COVID-19 the 2021 Crown’s A&S Championships will be held virtually in January 2021! While running this online will present some challenges, it also creates many opportunities, such as greater access by the wider populace to view entries, more time for judges to discuss with entrants and each other, no limit on how many people can display, and the option to enter/display items that cannot easily be transported. Our staff will be assisting every step of the way to ensure broad access regardless of background through a variety of supports for both entrants and judges.
Full details can be found on our MOAS webpage at https://moas.eastkingdom.org/displays-competitions/crowns-as-champions-2020/ but in summary:
Entrants (both display and competitors) will need to register by December 13th and submit all materials by January 10th to allow for the creation of the webpages.
The MOAS office will be offering a variety of online guides and classes covering displaying/presenting online, the Kingdom rubrics, and such to help everyone feel confident in the format, and the office is also available to answer questions by email.
We will be allowing brewing, cooking, and performance entries and we have liaisons in those communities who will be available to assist entrants with their entries (see webpage for details).
Display is welcome and highly encouraged; display entries will be showcased alongside competitors, with no visible difference to the populace, with feedback for the artisan available if they wish.
There will be a Youth A&S Display to showcase their art, with a liaison to assist with entries.
We are committed to accessibility; if you have a concern regarding technology, neurodivergence/disability, language, finance, or anything else that you are worried may not allow you to participate please email the Deputy Kingdom MOAS, Mistress Elena Hylton (moas.deputy@eastkingdom.org) so that we can create a solution.
Dates:
Competition & Display Registration Deadline – December 13th
Entry, documentation, photo, and video submissions Due – January 10th
First round of Judging and entrant Display on MOAS Website – January 17th-23

If you have questions about the competition format, display, judging, or if you would like assistance preparing for the competition, please contact the Deputy Kingdom MOAS, Mistress Elena Hylton (moas.deputy@eastkingdom.org).
While we know this change may present challenges we are incredibly excited for the ability to share the great creations of our Artisans across our entire Kingdom (and the entire SCA!) and not limited to a single event.
