Challenge Assembly: 6pm
Starting around 6pm and going till late (likely 10pm) we’ll open things up for folks to perform! The intent is for folks to try something new and take inspiration from one of the challenges on this list
https://docs.google.com/
EKCoP Chatelaine Douglas Doan will be moderating this to make sure everyone gets a chance to perform.
I encourage you to try something new and pick a challenge to meet! It’s not a competition, just a challenge to try something new. One of the challenges is “Perform your favorite piece” so there should be something for everyone on the list!
Sign-up for the Challenge Assembly: Perform and get mailed a wooden token (hopefully)
https://forms.gle/
Signing up isn’t required, but it’ll help us gauge how many people are planning to come
And you’ll be able to provide your address (if you want to) so we can send you a wooden token for participating (We’ll do our best to make this happen!)
Submit a new challenge:
You can submit a new challenge year round with this form:

Class descriptions:
10am: Welcome all! Socialize! Chat! Morning warm up! Informal and Fun!
EKCoP Chatelaine Douglas Doan -60mins 1
All are welcome! Practice pieces, chat, socialize, etc! Getting the online event set up early in case we need to do any last minute troubleshooting before classes start.
11am: Storytelling Techniques:From Period Sources to Successful PerformancesPeregrine the Illuminator -60mins
Peregrine will talk about the journey from pre-1600 story sources through a storyteller’s techniques to engaging performances that entertain audiences. On the way, we will talk about how to find stories, how to evoke different storytelling styles, and how to create a receptive audience.
12pm: Oneg Shabbat
Harav Da’ud Ibn Dob Ibn Yusif -60mins
An exploration of the Medieval Jewish practice of singing around the Shabbat table (yes, you will learn to sing in Hebrew).
1pm: Inspiration, performance anxiety, and why we play:
Kenneric Aubrey -60mins
Join me for a discussion on a wide range of performance topics; the reasons we play music, how to find your muse, and overcoming the fear of the stage. I will share my experiences and stories from my 25+ years performing as a professional cellist. All are welcome. Bring your instrument, voice, or just yourself.
2pm: Documentation Q&A with the Crown A&S Champion Amalie
Amalie von Hohensee-60mins
Do you want to start the process of assembling A&S-style documentation for a bardic or performing arts project, but are feeling intimidated or don’t know where to start? This class is for you! I’ll answer your questions about the documentation process, and will cover topics such as getting started and finding quality sources. There are no dumb questions – ask away!
3pm: How to Give a Good Peerage Speech
Marguerite inghean Lachlainn-60mins
Most people don’t think of speaking in court as performance, but of course it is! This class gives an overview of how to prepare for, write, and speak at an elevation on behalf of a candidate. Even if you are not yet a peer, you may still need these skills. Come by and learn about public speaking as performance.

4pm: Fools & Flirts: Improvised Comedy of the Italian Renaissance
Niccolò Bartolazzi – 60mins
An introduction to commedia dell’arte, the popular 16th Century comedic theatre that combined improv, masks, farce, stock characters, slapstick, and innuendo!
5pm: Shakespeare’s Advice to the Players: Authentic Renaissance Acting Technique
Laila al-Sanna’ al-Andalusiyya’ – 60 mins
All levels welcome. No prerequisites. The works of Shakespeare, Marlowe, Johnson and their contemporaries are ill-suited to modern acting technique, which tends to place feeling over form. Renaissance theatre, on the other hand, demands that we obey the dictates of form first, and let that guide our feeling. Using the techniques espoused by the great Shakespearian actor and director, Peter Hall, this class will walk students through a process designed to honor the form of Renaissance theatre, in order to produce thrilling and authentic acting performances.
